  • I started podcasting earlier this year as a way to grow my audience. Or is that true? Looking back, there may have been a different motivation, one that I was unaware of at the time. My own learning. I’ve made mistakes while I learned how to do it, I’ve changed my style ever so slightly, I’ve bought better equipment and now I’m in the swing of things.

  • If you are like me, the only time your accountant calls you is when there is either a question to be asked about your accounts, or to make an appointment to go over them when they are finished. Never have they once called and offered any kind of business advice or added any extra value without me first asking for it and yet most accountants advertise “We help you grow your business”. I’m not sure how.

  • It’s small and not overly clever and complicated, which makes it very easy to remember. Following on from my recent posts about getting out more and talking to more people you don’t currently know, I thought I would share this easy method for starting a conversation. It is particularly useful if you are at a networking event where there are possibly many people you just don’t know.

  • Dale Carnegie wrote a fantastic book back in 1936 that really spelled out How to Win Friends and Influence People, and in my view it was so successful and continues to be successful because it contains such a lot of common sense about treating others how we ourselves like to be treated.

    Unfortunately, we sometimes forget our common sense due to work and other pressures, and times have changed a little too, so I have put together a quick list with a few examples.
