Changes to LinkedIn's user agreement

messageYou may be aware of a few changes to the LinkedIn user agreement that came into force last month (March, 2010), and so it is worth taking note of what some of the important things to avoid are.

The main ones are:

  • 10b(5) You must not create a user profile for anyone other than a natural person. That means not using a company name as a profile name. There is the facility to add your company via the “Company” page.

  • 10b(25) You must not upload a cartoon, symbol, drawing or any content other than a head-shot photograph of yourself in your profile photo. If you are at the beach surfing in the distance, we won’t be able to see your lovely face.

  • 10b(28)c You must not add to a content field content that is not intended for such field (i.e. submitting a telephone number in the “title” or any other field, or including telephone numbers, email addresses, street addresses or any personally identifiable information for which there is not a field provided by LinkedIn). This is for your own privacy safety.

A full list can be found by clicking on the link at the top, so it may be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the rules.
